Living Coral is Pantone Colour of the year for 2019. A beautiful and vivid colour, that can be added to the roster of my favorite colours, right next to millenial pink; a cousin of quartz pink, one of the Pantone colours of the year for 2016. That year and the following ones were abundant in various shades of pink – from rose quartz and millenial pink, to tumblr pink and pale dogwood. Beauty, fashion and interior design were swamped in these trendy shades and for good reason. They are calm, cool colours, like that girl next door who always looks effortlessly cool.
Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year was chosen to be Living Coral – a vivid and rather striking colour. A warm colour that provides “comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment”; as response to the increasing interference of social media in out daily lives, we are looking for authentic experiences that enable connection and intimacy. Living Coral encourages lighthearted activity, optimism, joy, playfulness.
Living Coral for 2019
Compared to the laid back millenial pink, Living Coral is energetic, always on the go, full of life. It’s the jetsetting, hustling woman, travelling, having her dream job while working hard on her side business.
I always found coral to be a daring yet calming colour, the perfect choice between a bold red and a pale pink. The perfect colour that can be used to make a bold statement, but not shock people. The perfect colour in both small and big doses. From a maxi coral dress, or a whole coral wall in your living room to a discrete coral nailpolish, a discreet pair of earrings or your favorite throw pillow on the couch.
Living Coral can be found everywhere in nature. From corals, obviously, to beautiful flamingoes, blooming flours, sunset skies, berries, canyons, grapefruits and the list can go on.
I don’t know about you, but just by researching visuals of Living Color, I feel a sense of excitement for life, for discovery, for joyfulness. And ready to spice up my wardrobe with beautiful coral dresses.

That is such a nice colour. I used to have my hair that colour and I loved it but it was a lot of maintenance to keep the colour up. So many different shades too xx
