Some time ago, during a nice sunny Sunday in spring, we took a short trip to Vianden, a small city in the north-east of Luxembourg. We found it really nice to explore cities in Luxembourg and the Greater Region on week-ends exactly because it doesn’t take more than a few hours and it’s a nice getaway.
We stopped the car somewhere up the hill, overlooking the castle to take some pictures, and then parked in the city centre. We did not walk much and did not manage to visit the castle. Also, most of the places where closed, but still a lot of people (including tourists) were around, eating at terraces and having a drink. We will surely revisit to check out the castle more closely and the Nut Market in October (I’m entering my 4th year in Luxembourg and still haven’t been there…)
Have you been to Vianden? If so, how did you find it?
I love Vianden! I have visited the castle about five times so far. It’s the place which I usually show to visitors.

Beautiful place! It’s nice to see this kind of scenery, like you’re back in the old times. 🙂
I have never been there but I now I wish I had !
Maybe during my next trip.
I have been to Poland recently though, I really recommend it !
Check my pictures on my blog if you’re interested 🙂 They’re from July 2015
I love Vianden – and indeed the Nut Market is amazing! You should also try the Aal Vianen restaurant, it is one of my fav in Luxembourg!
