Autumn skincare routine with AXIS-Y

With autumn settling in, it feels like indeed like a new season, and thus a new beginning. And what’s better than switching up the skincare routine and trying something new? When AXIS-Y contacted me to work together I was thrilled! The concept of climate-inspired personalised skincare is intriguing.
If you have sensitive and/or combination skin, prone to irritation, and you are looking for products that are gentle and soothing, yet effective, AXIS-Y products are definitely for you. For 15 days I used nothing but AXIS-Y products in my routine – except adding the sunscreen in the mornings and the eye cream.

About AXIS-Y

The focus of AXIS-Y is on the effects of the environment on the skin – the growing pollution, stressful factor and climate change. Together with travelling from one corner of the world to another, there are unique skin concerns that arise from going from one climate to the other and the need for personalised skincare. They are the first creators of climate-inspire skincare!

They are committed to their values of natural-derived skin-loving ingredients, safety, no animal testing, vegan-certified and effective formulas. I could immediately see their care for the environment by the packaging. So many companies use bubble wrap or packing peanuts and it breaks my heart a bit to see so much plastic. But AXIS-Y uses a special type of wrapping made of paper, a great eco-friendly alternative to bubble wrap. Their values and the feeling their products give is reflected in the cardboard packaging of each product also. The background of off-white with a tint of green, has accents of darker green (for the ingredients’ illustrations) and red (for the trademarked ‘6+1+1 Advanced Formula’). Not only that but also the containers of the products with green bottle, label that matches the box, and white caps. I highly enjoy using products that are soothing for the eyes and a pleasure to use, even before actually opening and using them.

Quinoa One-Step Balanced Gel Cleanser

The cleanser is the first step of the skincare routine, and it’s important to have one that is adapted to your skin. It’s of course important to have all products match your skin type, but if the cleanser is too harsh, your skin becomes more and more sensitive in time. After years of using a foam gel that irritated my skin, I switched it for a gel version.

The Quinoa One-Step Balanced Gel Cleanser cleans the skin deeply and doesn’t leave it dry (you know what squeaky feeling when you rinse with your face? It’s not good). With a pH of 5.5, this cleanse can remove make-up, excess sebum and the day’s build up in one go. This gel cleanser contains quinoa as the core ingredient, together with six base ingredients (Centella Asiatica, calendula, green tea, sweet almond oil, hops and holy basil).

My first impressions of this cleanser were it’s faint but pleasant smell of roses and the cooling and lightweight texture, even if it’s a quite dense gel. Apply the 2-3 pumps of the gel to the wet face and them massage it all over the face and neck – make sure to rinse with lukewarm water. Because it does’t strip your skin and it’s gentle, it’ perfect if you have sensitive skin. There is only one downside to this product and that is the fact that is has a cap. For daily use at home, I sometimes forget to add it. But if you’re travelling, it’s a great way to make sure that the product doesn’t spill in your luggage.

Daily Purifying Treatment Toner

I love a good toner! I usually go for an exfoliating one like the Daily Purifying Treatment Toner with 0.5% Salicylic Acid as its core ingredient, and Centella Asiatica, tea tree, sugar cane, lotus, haeweek and heartless as the 6 base ingredients. It gently removes dead skin cells, balances oil levels and boosts the skin’s tone and texture to enhance its natural glow.

I use if after cleaning my face by applying a a good amount on a cotton pad and use it to wipe all over my face and neck. I sometimes add a second layer by tapping a few drops with my palms. It absorbs very quickly and it’s very refreshing and gentle.

Artichoke Intensive Skin Barrier Ampoule

This ampoule is more on the denser side, but once applied it spreads easily and is quickly absorbed. After the tone is absorbed, I apply 1 dropper on the face and 1 dropper for the neck. I absolutely love ampoule and I love trying new ones, with different ingredients than the classic hyaluronic acid or collagen. The core ingredient in this ampoule is artichoke, supported by 6 other base ingredients (Centella Asiatica, tea tree, burdock root, aloe vera, liquorice, okra). The Artichoke Intensive Skin Barrier Ampoule has excellent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, is soothing and reduces skin irritation.

Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream

I was low-key blown away by the concept of this cream. It’s perfect for those like me with combination skin, because I need different level of moisture for my T-zone vs the rest of the face. I would either go for a generally lightweight cream in the warmer seasons, and a thicker one in the colder seasons. But the Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream could be used for longer during the year. At the end of my skincare routine, I apply the blue gel-type cream on my T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and the white thicker cream on my cheeks and neck. A little goes a long way, for both creams, so make sure to start with a small amount in the beginning to get the hang of it. There is a tiny spatula provided to help you with that!

Because there are basically two different creams in the pot, there are also two different formulations. The blue cream for the T-zone has heartleaf has the core ingredient, and rice, allantoin, sage, sorghum and Centella Asiatica as the base ingredients. The white cream for the U-zone has Ceramide as the core ingredient and allantoin, sorghum, purslane and Centella Asiatice as the base ingredients. Together, both creams help control the excess of oil and sebum, and lock in the moisture to protect the skin. In addition, they enhance the production of collagens and reduce wrinkles.
