Gisou Hair Review – Worth the Splurge?

Gisou hair review

Gisou is a honey-infused haircare brand that was launched by blogger Negin Mirsalehi in 2013. A while ago I saw a Facebook ad promoting a Gisou Christmas set consisting of hair oil, shampoo, conditioner and hair mask. I thought this was a great opportunity to see whether they are worth it or not, before buying any of them in full size.

Gisou packaging

I do love the packaging even though there is nothing ground-breaking about it – it’s just a pink box that showcases the products in a nice way. If you do end up ordering products from Gisou, please be careful when you open it. While opening the bigger packaging box, I managed to scratch the Gisou box with the scissors. On the back you can see details about each product what they are ingredients and how to use them and so on.

So how are the Gisou hair products?

I have already tried all of the products; I must say my hair is very shiny and is feeling very soft. I usually use conditioners masks oils all of that on my hair but this time it was really unusually soft.

Let’s start off with their most popular product – the Gisou honey-infused hair oil. I do love the rich golden colour and the smell is soft and pleasant; actually, all of the products smell the same.

The shampoo was something I was really interested in. I have been having a hard time finding shampoos and hair products in general that are gentle with my scalp. In this case, it seems that I was lucky because I felt like the shampoo was really gentle on my hair my scalp and it did not dry it. What I would add is that one would need a considerable amount of shampoo. The instructions advise using a dime-sized amount. My hair is not thick and it’s not very long either but I did have to add maybe four or five dime-sized amounts until it lathered properly. My advice is to start small and then you see how much you need for your hair.

After I wash my hair with the shampoo, I apply the conditioner from the mid-length to the ends; I let it sit for one to two minutes. After rinsing the conditioner, I towel-dry my hair and apply a dime-sized amount of hair mask all over my scalp and hair. And then I let that sit for 10 more minutes. After rinsing my hair, I let it air dry. When the hair is about 90 % dry, I add two to three drops of Gisou hair oil to the palms of my hand and then I applied it all over my hair. You can apply this hair oil on both wet hair and dry hair. While for the shampoo I needed quite some quantity, in the case of the conditioner, mask and oil, a little goes a long way. You really do not need to put a lot of product.

Are Gisou hair products worth the splurge?

I personally recommend the Gisou products and I find them gentle on my hair and scalp. However, I advise that you purchase small quantities first. It’s a great way to test them out and they can last for a while too.
