So for this year, we decided to go for 2 weeks and a half to Japan, starting with Tokyo for more than a week, followed by a few days in Kyoto and Osaka. I will just say that Japan was more than amazing and exceeded our expectations. After 24h of traveling, we had to drag our suitcases through crowds of people to get to our airbnb, which was close to Shibuya. There were so so many people and yet nobody bumped into me, it was something that never happened to me Here, it can happen that there is one more person on the side walk and we bump into each other.
Tokyo at Christmas
Everything was so alive, crowded and fully lit. The vibe was amazing and we were looking forward to some amazing Christmas and New Year holidays in a country that we (ok at least me) are obsessed with.
When we arrived there on the 24th December, decorations were already put up in Shibuya, people handing out Christmas party invitations and on the 24th and 25th, there were people dressed as Santa Claus having fun and spreading joy.
I on Christmas day, while enjoying a matcha latte, overlooking the Shibuya crossing, there was a girl dressed in Santa clothes, carries on a canoe (looking like a sleigh) by some guys dressed as reindeers. I could not hear what was happening, but they soon made a human pyramid and and she was holding a silver star. I don’t know about you but in that moment felt like the Japanese know how to have fun and enjoy life.
Have you been to Tokyo or Japan? What were your first impressions?
