Munich: Alte Pinakothek

Alte Pinakothek - Alte Pinakothek

The only art museum that I ended up visiting in Munich was the Alte Pinakothek. This is the place for Renaissance lovers – you’ve got your Bruegel the Elder, Rubens, Dürer, Cranach – a true delight. As part of the museum was in renovation, we missed the Spanish collection (bye El Greco…), and the 17th and 18th century collections. For that we would need to come in around 2 years when those parts are done. But I assure you that no matter which part you see, it will be worth it and the little art nerd inside you will jump with joy. I will leave you with some impressions from the day hoping to share a bit of my joy.

My favourite parts of the museum were the huge interconnected rooms that had bright magenta and bright turqouise walls. Really loved how the wall colour was contrasting with teh paintings.

Have you been to Munich? If so, what museums would you recommend?
